Welcome to ORAN !

Those who visit Algeria often make their way to Oran, a city renowned as the safest in the country. While many come for its seaside charm and vibrant nightlife, Oran has much more to offer—including an incredibly rich cultural heritage that can fill a good portion of your stay.

If your journey through Algeria takes you west, you’ll travel about 430 km from the capital, Algiers, along the Mediterranean coast before reaching the stunning city of Oran; Algeria’s premier seaside destination.

Today, Oran attracts the largest number of tourists in the country. In summer, its beaches are as crowded as those on the northern shores of the Mediterranean. Hotels thrive here, restaurants abound, and the city buzzes with energy year-round.

Despite its reputation for sun and nightlife, Oran’s true appeal extends far beyond beaches and parties. The city holds some of the country’s most fascinating historical treasures starting with the Sacred Heart Cathedral, now converted into a public library. Oran’s mosques are architectural marvels, with Sidi El Houari Mosque, Ben Othman Mosque, La Perle Mosque, and Pasha Mosque being the most stunning.

After 300 years of Spanish rule and decades of French colonization, Oran is filled with unmissable historical landmarks. Spend a day exploring Fort Lamoune, Santa Cruz Fort, and Châteauneuf.

End your day at 1st November Square, with its beautiful views of the theater and city hall. You’ll also find the locals exceptionally friendly—your stay will be enriched by encounters in both the modern city and the winding alleys of the Casbah.
